Hi everyone! ☺️

Wow, it’s been a while. (Almost two months, I can’t believe it!) I’ve missed you all and blogging so much! 💗

In case you missed my last post, I took a break from blogging because I was at a month-long residential summer program, learning about video game design! The summer program was such a fun, amazing, and unforgettable experience, and I miss all my friends so much already. 😭 Take me back!!

I’m sad to say, I’m still taking a semi-hiatus from blogging because school started on August 9th, and it literally sucks all my free time out of the day, especially since I’m in my last year of high school. (I’m sure many of you can relate. 🙃) For now, my goal is to post at least once per month. I’m sorry that I won’t be blogging as much (as much as it pains me), but I hope you guys can understand! 💕 Thank you all for your support and kindness, as always. 💞

But *ahem* anyways, let’s get to the point of this post! I’m here to answer some questions for the Mystery Blogger Award!! Thank you so much to the lovely Amber @ ambsreads for nominating me for this award! You’re so kind; I appreciate this so much. 💖

Three facts about me

1. I’ve lived in three countries over the course of my life so far: China, Canada, and the United States (in that order). I don’t remember much of my life in China, though (☹️), since I was really young when I lived there. I remember a bit from my life in Canada (it was always really cold, but snow is amazing!! ❄️) and obviously, since I live in the U.S. now, I can remember it pretty clearly.

Cute little puppy in snow!! 😍

2. Currently, my favorite genre to read is YA contemporary. I used to love fantasy (and I still do), but now I love reading contemporaries so much more. ☺️ I think it’s because contemporaries are becoming more and more diverse, and I’m loving it. (Representation is so important.) I love reading books that have realistic settings, and the books that I can relate to the most are contemporaries.

3. I’ve traveled to many places around the world, including Toronto, Ontario; Seattle, Washington; London, England; Barcelona, Spain; Rome, Italy; Guangzhou, China; Shanghai, China; Beijing, China; New York City, and so many more. I’d love to visit Hawaii, Singapore, and any city in Australia someday. I love traveling (although I get motion sickness 😩) because I enjoy getting to experience and learn about different cultures. And whenever I go to China, it’s great to learn more about my own culture, as well. 🙂

4. (Sorry, I know that I’m only supposed to say three facts about myself, but I just remembered one more very important fact!!) I LOVE boba (or bubble tea, as you may call it); it’s literally my life lmao. It’s the absolute best and I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH. If I could have boba every single day, I would. :’)boba

Amber’s questions:

1. What is your favorite thing about where you live?

I love that there is so much delicious Asian food (and boba!!) where I live. 😋 I love ramen, pho, and all Japanese & Chinese food!!

Page Break

2. What is your favorite genre to watch and read?

To watch…any show that makes me laugh, tbh. And it should be diverse, have amazing & supportive friendships, and address important issues & topics. (I’m just describing Brooklyn 99 at this point, lmao. And yes, it is the best show.)

My favorite squad!! 💙

To read…I kinda already answered this in my three facts about myself, but contemporaries!!

3. What are you looking forward to most in 2018?

Bookish wise, I’m looking forward to these releases the most: Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman, Wildcard by Marie Lu, The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee, and What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera.

Life wise, I honestly cannot wait until I finish all my college/university applications and finally send them off to the schools I’m applying to. The U.S. college application process is so. freaking. complicated and stressful, and I can’t wait until it’s over by the end of this year/beginning of next year. 😩 (Good luck to all of you if you’re going through this process as well! 💕)

4. Which character would you love to have as your best friend and why?

Oops, I’m not going to name a book character here (I’m sorry!!). I’m going to have to say, Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99. As immature as he can be sometimes, he genuinely cares about all of his friends and will stand up for them no matter what. He’s also really funny and can always make you laugh. ❤️

5. Show me your favorite book cover!

Oh, I can’t choose just one! You guys should know how indecisive I am. :’) Anyway, here are three of my favorite book covers! 😍 I love all three books so much; they all mean so much to me (in different ways). 💞

  3. Yay so happy that you’re back!! And thank you for tagging me in this, I really appreciate it 🙂

Ahh yes, isn’t it awesome that contemporaries have been having a lot more diversity/representation? It makes me so happy 😊

Ooh good luck with your college applications! I was just doing those a couple years back, and they are definitely a complicated process in the US. I wish you the best with completing them 🙂

And I love those covers you picked too, especially Autoboyography! It’s such a cute one❤️

    • Aww thank you so much! ❤️ And of course, no problem. 🙂

Yes, seeing representation in books makes me so happy too! Representation matters so much. And oh, thank you so much for your support! I definitely need all the luck I can get with college apps; writing personal statements is so hard. 😩

Thanks again for this lovely comment! 💞

  4. Hullo! Glad you’re back and best of luck with the applications (I know they are zero fun gah)!

My fave read of August was The Brilliant Death by Amy Rose Capetta ❤ Italian inspired fantasy with genderfluid protags!!

And Jake Peralta would be the /best/ friend! I love B99 so much 😀

  5. Welcome back, Dezzy! ❤

Ohh, I'm so excited for all the books you named, and the B99 references make me so, so happy. Also, the book covers!! 💕💕

Thank you so much for the nomination! My nomination posts are all long, long overdue, so I can only hope to get to it sometime this year. 🙈

    • Oh, thank you so much, Lily! 💞

Haha, I’m glad you enjoyed my B99 references! 😂 It’s my absolute favorite show and I’ll never stop screaming about it and declaring my love for it. 💙

Aww, you’re so welcome! I honestly love your blog posts so much; you have such a distinct and lovely writing voice and your blog is so aesthetically pleasing. 😍

  6. We love travelling. We love bubble tea (and Asian food😉). We love you. Sorry what? What we meant to say is that we thought we had already clicked that follow button and what do you know…we didn’t 😅 (don’t you worry that problem had been corrected!)…unfortunately we can’t say we love B99…not because we don’t want to…but the lack of knowledge on it via the lack of watching the show…it’s seems to be everywhere these days!!

Anyways great post! And you should totally not stress in posting (look at us – we took a MASSIVE break because of education etc. Lol) and don’t make it a chore! This place is great but forcing it would just make you miserable and don’t worry this community is so understanding!!

    • Aww I’m so glad that you share my love of traveling and bubble tea, hehe! ❤️ And thank you for the follow; I really appreciate it. ☺️ Oohh I hope you check out B99 one day; it’s honestly such a great show. And thank you so much for your support and understanding! It means a lot.

  7. WELCOME BACK! That’s so cool that you did a video game design program! I totally understand what you mean about YA Fantasy not being very diverse…I’ve been noticing that lately myself. As a person who loves to read YA Fantasy, I’m noticing that there just isn’t as much representation going on as in the Contemporary genre, which is too bad! 😦 Well, anyways, thanks for a fun post 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    • Aww thank you so much! I really enjoyed that summer program. ☺️ Yeah, I’m disappointed that there isn’t much diversity in many fantasy books; all books should be diverse and have representation in my opinion.

Thank you so much for this lovely comment! And I’m so happy you enjoyed my post; that means a lot. 💞

      Liked by 1 person

      • I totally agree that all books should be diverse. There are so many different kinds of people in the world, and they all deserve to have books to read starring characters like them. I feel like disabilities rep especially is a bit lacking in the books I’ve been reading.

  8. I haven’t had bubble tea in forever but have been craving it for so long now, and now that you mentioned it I want it even more 😂

B99 really IS the best show I’m pretty much constantly rewatching it? 😂 Sometimes I watch something else inbetween but,,, mostly I just rewatch B99 sdfj I just love it so much

Also I have no idea what my favourite book in August was because I don’t remember what I read?? 😂 August wasn’t even that long ago but I’ve been so busy that it feels like ages ago

Also thank you so much for the tag! ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    • Hahahah that makes me so happy to hear; boba is the best. I hope you get to have bubble tea soon 😂💖 And omg I’m so glad that you love B99 too!! I recently finished season 5 and I CAN’T WAIT FOR SEASON 6; 2019 seems so far away. 😭 I’m definitely going to rewatch B99 haha; ikr I love this show soooo much. I owe the cast my life

Omg ikr!! I feel you; August feels like ages ago for me too. And it’s already almost October, which is kinda crazy tbh. Time is just flying by 😩

Awww you’re welcome!! Thank you so much for commenting 💞

  9. I still have yet to read Wildcard and What If It’s Us but I need to soon! I watched a couple of episodes of Brooklyn Nine Nine and I really liked it! I just have to watch the rest. I’m terrible at catching up on TV. I’m hoping you’re enjoying what you’re reading!

    Liked by 1 person

    • Ahhh I hope you’ll like both Wildcard and What If It’s Us! I recently finished What If It’s Us and I enjoyed it overall, although it didn’t live up to my expectations. Omg yes Brooklyn 99 is the best; I’m glad you’re enjoying it! 🙂 And thank you so much; I hope you are too 💞 Thank you so much for leaving such sweet comments! ☺️
