Favorite Book Covers // In which I scream about books AND covers I love

Hi everyone!! 💫

I know…we’re nearing the end of the first month of 2019, and I haven’t posted until now. :’) What can I say…senior year (of high school) has been drowning me in waves of work, and it doesn’t help that I’ve developed senioritis, LOL. and no, i still haven’t learned how to stop procrastinating…i need help, pls teach me

Anyway, I’m excited to start off my year of blogging by sharing my favorite book covers!! (Yes, I’m writing an entire post dedicated to my favorite book covers, because they deserve it.) I have so much appreciation for designers; they are honestly SO. FREAKING. TALENTED. Prepare to feast your eyes upon the most beautiful, eye-catching, aesthetically pleasing and gorgeous covers ever (in my opinion, and hopefully your opinion too 👀) 😍

Autoboyography by Christina Lauren

It just so happens that Autoboyography is not only one of my favorite books ever, but also has one of my favorite book covers. Like, JUST LOOK AT THIS COVER. Isn’t it absolutely beautiful??? (The only right answer is yes.) 😍😭 The book, the two silhouettes on top of the book (Tanner and Sebastian 💞), the flowy text of the title, and finally, last but not least…THE (BI) COLORS. I’m in love 💖💜💙 This is such a wonderful cover for an even more wonderful book, and I’d literally die for both the book and the cover. 📖

Starfish…also known as the book that made me feel understood and represented like I’ve never experienced before. 😭 I could yell about the Asian and social anxiety rep for days, but instead of subjecting you to that, I’ll scream about the exquisite cover instead. This cover is out of the world; I absolutely adore the font of “Starfish,” the galaxy background, and the ethereal sea animals. Everything comes together so well, and I’ll never be able to look at this cover without marveling at its wondrous beauty. 🌟

This book, oh my gosh. My heart hurt so much while reading this, but it’s an important and (sadly) necessary story to be told and read. Trigger warnings for sexual assault, rape, and victim blaming – if you’re in the right headspace to read it, please do. Girl Made of Stars is such a beautifully written, emotional, compelling, and simply amazing book. I’m glad I chose to read this book, because I needed to read this. I needed to feel angry and devastated for Mara and Hannah so I would be empowered to always fight for what’s right. For justice. 💓 This cover is absolutely splendid, and fits the book so well. ✨

The Midnight Star by Marie Lu

THIS BOOK AND THIS SERIES. AHHHH. I recently finished The Young Elites trilogy, about two weeks ago. yes i know i’m super late And I’m kinda still not over the ending. 💔 But anyway, let’s not focus on the pain. LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS MAGNIFICENT COVER INSTEAD. I’m sure you can see a theme with my favorite covers by now, lmao…yes, I have a thing for galaxy and starry designs. 🌟 This cover is so stunning!! I especially love the text and how the “A” in “Star” was formed with two swords. So clever and perfect for The Midnight Star. ⚔️

This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills

So I literally just finished this book a couple of days ago, and I can confirm that Emma Mills is a queen of contemporary. Specifically – fluffy, feel-good contemporaries with great friendships, siblings, and laugh-out-loud humor. Although I didn’t love This Adventure Ends as much as Foolish HeartsI still enjoyed it a lot and adored the friendship dynamics. 💖 Sloane is such a funny and witty character who cares a lot for her friends – even if she doesn’t admit it – and I love how much she grew by the end of the book.

AND THIS COVER!! Emma Mills honestly has the best cover designer, because I loveeee all of her covers. They’re all so aesthetically pleasing, and this one in particular is very soothing to my eyes. I love all the shades of blue 💙

I hope you enjoyed looking at these gorgeous covers!! Do you agree with my choices? (You should 😉) Do you like galaxy and starry designs as much as I do?

What are your favorite book covers? Are they also your favorite books?

I hope January has been going well for you, and if it isn’t, I’m sure things will look up soon!! I believe in you 💓

  1. These are all gorgeous covers. I haven’t read all of these books but I very recently added Emma Mills onto my TBR list and I LOVE the design for all her covers. This Adventure Begins is my favourite just because my favourite colour is blue. 🙂
Also Starfish is another book I haven’t read but that’s such a recognisable cover, even before I read the blurb I was seeing that cover catching my eye everywhere! 🙂

    • My favorite color is blue too, and that’s a large reason why I love the cover for This Adventure Ends so much, haha. 💙 I’m so excited for you to read Emma Mills’ books; her contemporaries are truly the best. I love how she writes friendships especially ☺️ And I can’t wait for you to read Starfish as well; it’s such an emotional and beautifully written book. I completely agree, the cover is so eye-catching 😍

  3. I lave galaxy and starry designs, they might honestly be my downfall. One of my more recent favorite covers is Circe by Madeline Miller, which also happened to be a five star read for me!

    • YAY hehe I’m so happy to hear that, Sapphire!! Me too, stars and galaxies are always so beautiful 💫 And YES I love Emma Mills’ covers so much; they’re so unique and gorgeous. I can’t wait for you to read her books; she writes contemporaries and friendships so well. My favorite book of hers is Foolish Hearts 💞

  5. These are absolutely stunning covers, indeed. I feel like YA contemporary tends to have the most aesthetically pleasing covers? Also, a very unpopular opinion, but I actually like when you have models in book covers – like The Way You Make Me Feel, by Maurene Goo or Odd One Out, by Nic Stone. These are definitely some of my favorite covers. I definitely agree with Autoboyography and This Adventure Ends. For the latest, I added it to my TBR only because I loved the cover – blue is my absolute favorite color -, but thankfully the reviews were amazing as well, so yay!

    • Oohh I definitely agree; I love the covers of YA contemporaries so much 💞 And I can understand the appeal of models on covers – I’ve seen both of those books’ covers and I agree, they’re great! And I’m so happy that you added This Adventure Ends to your TBR – it’s such a heartwarming and cute book filled with great friendships ☺️ I hope you enjoy it, as well as Foolish Hearts (my favorite Emma Mills’ book)! Oh, and blue is my favorite color too hehe 💙

  6. AHHH THESE ARE ALL TOO PRETTY. The Autoboyography one is a work of art (YAYAY bi colors) but did I ever tell you that I never noticed Tanner and Sebastian were standing on a book until, like, months after I read it? I have no idea what I thought it was but LOL I loved the cover a lot more after that😂 Also I’m so so so glad I ended up getting a physical copy of Starfish as opposed to an ebook because OMG. I’ve spent so much time just staring at it and admiring the cover. It’s beautiful💜

I looooved this post! You picked so many great covers and I have to agree, the ones with the starry themes are some of the BEST kind💫

    • Yessss 💖💜💙 And HAHAH that’s so funny, but I get it because their silhouettes are pretty small 😂 And oh my gosh I’m so happy you got a physical copy of Starfish too; it’s such a beautiful book inside AND out 💜 And thank you so much, Brianna!! I’m very happy you love these covers as much as I do 😊

  7. OMG I RELATE TO SENIORITIS SO MUCHHHHH. i’m currently experiencing “general college-itis,, I don’t even know what year I’m in anymore lol”-itus.

+ I love and admire every single thing about this post, bc book covers are so important to the overall Reading Experience??

also I want to read Starfish bc of how much it means to youuu. AND GIRL MADE OF STARS !!!!! it was so beautiful, HANNAH WAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING. I was so enraged on her behalf, and I had to take about a week off of reading *anything* just to process my emotions +the way Hannah’s room was described as smelling like chamomile tea became my favorite aesthetic c: c: c:

Now I want to do a post like this sldkfjklsjdf ((((((((and I sadly won’t be able to include the foxhole court bc the covers are so bad *stares into the distance sadly*)))))))))),,,,,but every single emma mills shall be present, as well as every Alice Oseman (even though I’ve only read one but that’s okayyyyy)

in conclusion ilysm and i love this post ❤

  8. I JUST FINISHED READING THE YOUNG ELITES SERIES RECENTLY TOO! Wasn’t the end just 💔💔💔but also somehow bittersweetly satisfying? Anyways, I’ve seen Starfish mentioned a few times on a couple of different blogs, and I’ve been wanting to read it. I think this post pushed it over for me. Consider it officially added to my TBR. Thanks for sharing such a lovely and fun post!!! 🙂

  10. I really liked the cover of “This adventure ends”. It’s so gorgeous.
Among the recent books that I read, I loved the cover of “The Wolf and the Watchman” by Niklas Natt Och Dag. The story and the writing are splendid too.

  11. Honestly, that gorgeous cover is part of what drew me to read Autoboyography. But boy was it worth it! And I totally agree that Emma Mills has some of the greatest cover designs known to man! I just finished Famous In a Small Town and I marveled at the cover ever time I picked it up to read it! The only book of hers I haven’t read yet is Foolish Hearts, but I’m hoping to get to it sometime this year!
