WWW Wednesday #1 // I think I’m finally out of my reading slump!

Hey everyone!

I’m here with my first WWW Wednesday post, yay! 😊 I wanted to give you guys an update on what I’ve been reading, and so I decided to participate in WWW Wednesday, because I figured that this would be an easy and short post to write, which is good because I really should be doing homework right now. 😂😩

I’m so happy that I’ve been reading so much lately; I’m finally out of my reading slump! 🎉 (At the expense of my schoolwork and sleep, haha. Oh well, it’s worth it. 😉)

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words,
and the three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?

I actually haven’t started reading this yet, but I will soon! The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh is the sequel to The Wrath and the Dawn, which I just finished today (and will talk about that next). I’m extremely excited to read this book because I really enjoyed The Wrath and the Dawn and I need to find out what happens next, especially after that cliffhanger (ish) ending in The Wrath and the Dawn!! Renee Ahdieh is such an amazing writer and I can’t wait to read more of her beautiful and lyrical writing. ☺️💫

As I said before, I finished The Wrath and the Dawn today and I enjoyed it so much. I really enjoyed the romance, storyline, and the beautiful & captivating writing. I fell in love with so many characters (namely, Shahrzad, Khalid, Despina, and Jalal) and I loved their relationships and interactions. I haven’t read a fantasy in so long (as you know, I’ve been obsessed with contemporaries lately, haha) and I didn’t expect to enjoy The Wrath and the Dawn as much as I did. I might try getting back into fantasy because of this book! 😍🌟

I’m planning on reading The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller next because I picked it up from the library yesterday!! (I was at the end of a long list of people, and I’m SO happy that I finally got it. 😍)  I’ve heard nothing short of amazing from this book, and I’m ready to get my heart broken from reading this book. Am I though?? Only time will tell. 🙃 I love Greek mythology (hello, Percy Jackson? it’s only my favorite book series) and I just know that I’m going to love The Song of Achilles, no matter how much it destroys me. ✨

Also, I noticed that I was still gaining followers even during my hiatus, and I recently hit 100 followers on this blog!! That’s absolutely amazing, oh my gosh!! 😱 When I first started this blog, I never thought that over 100 people would follow me for my content. Every like, comment, conversation, and interaction honestly means the world to me! Thank you all so much; I love and appreciate all of you. 💞

Have you read The Wrath and the Dawn and The Rose and the Dagger? (If you haven’t, you should! It’s an incredible fantasy series.) 💫

And have you read The Song of Achilles, or are you like me, super late to the party? If you’ve read it, how heartbreaking is it on a scale of 1 to 10? 💔

I hope that you all are doing well, and that you’ve been enjoying your September reads! Let me know how you’ve been doing both in terms of life and books; I love interacting with you guys. 💖

    • Hahaha, I’m glad you can relate. 😂💕 Writing a blog post is definitely much more fun than doing homework. 😩 Oh that’s amazing to hear!! We should do a buddy read and read The Song of Achilles together, hehe (if you want). (AND YES, PERCY JACKSON IS THE BEST. 💙) Thank you so much for commenting! 💞

      • Ooh, it would be so much fun to do a buddy read!! I’d love to! I just have to wait a tad bit more to nab a copy (it seems like EVERYONE wants to read it!) but I should have it soon! If not, I’ll just let you know. 🙂
        (YAY FOR PERCY JACKSON!! :D)

        • Ahh yay!! 😊 Let me know when you get a copy of it, but no worries, take all the time you need! I still need to finish The Rose and the Dagger before reading The Song of Achilles anyways, haha. 💗 (And ikr, everyone wants to read The Song of Achilles! I placed a hold on it at my library back in June, and I finally got it this past week.)

    • Ahhh that’s honestly the best kind of book haha – a book that’s emotionally devastating to read but worth the pain. I’m even more excited to read it now, ahh. 😍 I’m so happy to hear that you love The Song of Achilles! And yesss I love Percy Jackson so much; it’ll always mean so much to me. 💙 Thank you so much for commenting! ☺️

  3. I read The Song of Achilles early this year and it was a nice read. I expected to cry ugly tears by the end of the book but that didn’t happen. It was sad, true, but not as much as i have expected

  5. Yay it’s great you’re out of your reading slump Dezzy (god they really suck so I bet you’re glad it’s over now) and you featured some great books in this post. The Song of Achilles is amazing, but it completely broke me (be prepared for that because destroyed is a good word for what this book will probably do to you). I really hope you love it though, I’ll be interested to see what you think once you’ve finished. 🙂

    • Oh reading slumps are definitely the worst, haha. 😩 Thank you; I’m so happy that I’m out of it too. (Lmao just watch me slip into it again in a couple of days. 😂)

Ahh I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed The Song of Achilles!! I honestly can’t wait to read it and get destroyed by it LOL. I’ll definitely let you know my thoughts when I finish it! ❤️ Thank you so much for commenting! 😊

  6. YES, I’m so happy you’re reading The Wrath and The Dawn duology, it’s one of my favourites, for sure! I loved the characters and the romance and the writing was amazing as well. I really hope you enjoy the sequel as well and then the companion novels, which are really nice.
And TSOA is a book I’ll never stop recommending, I feel like everyone should read it alongside with Circe and Galatea and anything that Madeline Miller will write in the future. I hope you love it even though it’s going to be tragic! ❤

    • Yes I absolutely loved The Wrath and the Dawn, and I’m so happy to hear that you love it too! 😍 I actually haven’t started The Rose and the Dagger yet, whoops, but I did read one of the companion novellas – The Moth and the Flame – which I enjoyed.

And oh my gosh, I finished The Song of Achilles yesterday and I HONESTLY LOVED IT SO MUCH, even though it completely destroyed me and my feelings. 😭💔💗 I honestly can’t wait to read Circe now (but I have to wait quite a while before I can get it from the library ☹️). I completely agree; I’m going to be recommending TSOA forever because it’s such a beautiful and heartbreaking book.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment!! 💞

  7. I love The Wrath and the Dawn so much!! Also yes I’m late to the party haha. I haven’t read The Song of Achilles yet but I intend to..eventually?? There are so many books to get to and not enough time! I’ve been trying to read as much as I can before I go off to college. And it’s great that you’re out of your reading slump! I feel like listening to audiobooks and fiction podcasts helped me ward off a reading slump because I was switching up the format a little..if that makes sense! 🙂

    • Yesss it was such an incredible book! I can’t wait to read The Rose and the Dagger, ahh. 😍 Haha I still haven’t started it because I decided to read The Song of Achilles instead, and OH MY GOSH it was such an amazing but heartbreaking book. It destroyed me. 😭💔💞 I loved it so much though. I hope you’ll love TSOA whenever you get to read it! And I completely get you; I have so many books I want to read but so little time. ☹️ And thank you so much! That definitely makes sense. I’ve actually never listened to an audiobook before, but I’ll keep that in mind the next time I’m in a reading slump. Thank you so much for your lovely comment! 💗
