Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag 2021 // not me being fashionably late to this tag

Hii everyone!! 🀩 Yes, I know, I know. You probably did a second take when you saw this post in your WordPress reader, because what ?? An actual post from Dezzy at The Thoughtful Voice ????? Sounds fake to me :’)

All jokes aside, yes, I finally found the motivation to write a blog post!! πŸ₯³ i’ve probably said this same exact sentence a million times by now…..because being a consistent blogger?? couldn’t be me πŸ₯² ANYWAY, I know it’s already almost the end of July (not to sound like a broken record but hOW IS IT ALREADY JULY AHHHHH 2021 IS FLYING BY), but I reallyyyy want to do the Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag, because who doesn’t like freaking out about books in the middle of the year, am I right?? And technically if you round down it’s still the middle of the year, so 😌 here I am!! pls don’t question my perfectly sound logic ok. I also really missed blogging and chatting with y’all, so I’m really happy to be writing this post πŸ’“

It’s been more than 5 months since my last post (whOOPS), so I’ll give y’all some quick life updates I guess? I’ve been on summer vacation for a while now – I’ve gotten to hang out with a lot of friends who I hadn’t seen in over a year, which is really really nice πŸ₯Ί I start school again next month and I’ll actually be going back to my college campus and having in-person classes which is honestly WILD to think about slkdjflsdf……i literally haven’t learned anything since March 2020 πŸ’€ Zoom University is not it :’) But anyway, I’m definitely super excited to see all my college friends again ahhhhh!! And I hope y’all are doing well and staying safe πŸ₯°

I also randomly found the motivation to whip up some quick graphics for each prompt of this tag, as well as design a new blog signature (which you’ll see after you read this entire post πŸ˜‰) – we love Canva!! I’m a lil too lazy to actually do a full revamp / redesign of my blog, but!! Maybe I’ll redesign some of my blog graphics at least, hehe. Stay tuned!! ✨πŸŒ₯

Without further ado, let’s get into the reason you’re all reading this post in the first place: the 🌟Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag!!🌟

[Future Dezzy editing: omg this post turned out to be SOOOO long :’) if you actually end up reading this entire monster of a post, you have my eternal love and gratitude πŸ˜πŸ’“]

My 21 Most Anticipated 2021 Releases // aka me crying over how much i need these books already

Hi friends!! πŸ’«

Over the past few weeks or months if we’re being honest here HAHA, it seems like the entire bookish community has been screaming over our most anticipated 2021 releases, which has caused my 2021-releases Goodreads shelf to absolutely IMPLODE – it is currently at 109 books and counting – not that I’m complaining. okay i lowkey am bc i want to read ALL of these books right now and it is an absolute crime that i still have to wait who-knows-how-many-more-months for a lot of themπŸ’”

We’re all SO excited for all these shiny new releases, and rightfully so – it seems like 2021 is going to be an absolutely phenomenal year for books (as every year is, haha). So, after reading so many of your anticipated releases posts, I thought I should return the favor, so y’all can join me and add even more books to your overflowing 2021 releases shelves as well 😌 I am here today to present my most anticipated releases of 2021, so you can suffer with me as we wait together for these amazing books 🀩

As I mentioned, my 2021-releases shelf on Goodreads currently has 109 books – but I decided to just choose 21 of them (21 for 2021, hehe) to talk about in this post! For me, 21 books is a lot of books to include in a single post – I usually have less than 15 books to talk about (scream over), since I’m so long winded and end up rambling for ages over each book, so my posts are always unnecessarily long even if the quantity of books in the post is low LOL. So, since I’ll be talking about ✨21 books✨ today, I’ll try to limit my ramblings and screaming (no promises though) by switching it up and using a different format. Alright, without further ado, here are my 21 most anticipated 2021 releases!!

(I procrastinated a lot on writing this post who is surprised LOL not me :’) – I thought I could finish this by mid-January but :’) nope :’) so a few books that I will mention have already been released!)

Evermore Book Tag // in which I get to scream about Taylor AND books

Hii everyone!! 🌟

If you didn’t know (which you probably don’t bc i don’t think i’ve ever mentioned it on my blog before lmao), I, like so many in the online book community, LOVE Taylor Swift. I wasn’t active on my blog when folklore was released in July, but rest assured, I was freaking out and losing my mind on twitter just like the rest of you were. And I still hadn’t gotten over folklore (still haven’t tbh) when Taylor announced she was releasing an ENTIRE SECOND ALBUM, evermore, on December 11, 2020. like oMG ASDKFJSDLJF ???????

Okay I don’t know why I’m narrating all of this when most of you know what I’m talking about and probably went through the same emotional rollercoaster as me, haha. But hey, what can I say…..I honestly still cannot believe Taylor blessed us with TWO. ENTIRE. ALBUMS. in 2020 ?!!???!?!!? she really singlehandedly saved 2020,, love that for her (and us) 😌 And the timing of these albums being released, both of them, were honestly so perfect for me. I was struggling so much in both July and December, and somehow, the universe heard my pain – Taylor released folklore and evermore in those months?! 🀯 I’m truly so, so grateful for both of these albums – listening to these songs and Taylor’s voice really helped me get through some tough times and made me feel less alone 😭

Now that I’ve established how much I love Taylor + folklore + evermore, I’m super excited to be doing the Evermore Book Tag today!! ✨ i think i’m a little late to the game – ik evermore came out a month ago – but it’s fine :’) This is a wonderful tag created by Rhi @ marshmallow harmonies – thank you so much for tagging me! This tag combines two of my favorite things atm – books and evermore, so of course I had to do this 🀩 I’ve had evermore on repeat ever since it was released, and my favorite songs from the album are ’tis the damn season, dorothea, and champagne problems, but honestly, every single song is a bop!! Anyway, without further ado, let’s get started 🎢

Favorite Reads of 2020 // ft. books that helped me get through the chaos of 2020 + pie charts

Hey everyone!! I hope you’re having a lovely start to 2021 🌟

Today, I’m super excited to bring you my favorite reads of 2020 (as well as some pie charts)!! πŸ€©πŸ“š Honestly, I was debating whether I should even write this post, but since I’ve been really enjoying reading everyone’s favorite books of 2020 posts (and all of y’all’s end-of-year posts hehe), I was like, why not. you know me, i can’t pass up a chance to scream about books (especially my favorite books), i mean i literally am a book blogger after all hahahah. This post may be a little late (I realize we’re almost a week into 2021, oops), but better late than never, am I right 😌

So yes! Here I am, with my 4 books that I really, reallyy enjoyed amidst the chaos that was 2020 πŸ‘€ I read a total of 45 books in 2020, meaning that I read the exact amount of books I needed to achieve my 2020 reading goal – which I’m honestly so proud and happy about!! 😊 I didn’t reach my reading goal in 2019 (read 41/50 books), so accomplishing this in 2020 makes me happy. Most importantly, in a year that I felt so unproductive and unmotivated to do anything (lol thanks 2020), I’m so glad that I was still able to read a lot and accomplish my reading goal!! πŸŽ‰ also, as someone who doesn’t set new years resolutions bc she never follows through with them, i’m viewing my reading goal as a new years resolution of sorts – ONE THAT I ACTUALLY FOLLOWED THROUGH!! so yay :DD

Eight Books I Simply Must Read in 2021 // exposing myself for not reading books I bought 2 years ago

Hi y’all, happy new year!! ✨

I know it’s been 2021 for a few days now, but I honestly still can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s not 2020 anymore,, like,,, did the longest (yet shortest) year of our lives really come to an end ????? sounds fake but okay πŸ‘€ Haha but honestly, I feel like the first half of 2021 will still feel like 2020, for the very obvious reason that I’ll still be attending Zoom University and being a quaranteen and doing the same thing every single day for the foreseeable future……i am literally rotting away in my room. help

In all seriousness, though, I just want to say that as weird and challenging and unprecedented (dw i’ll never use this word again) 2020 was, we still made it through! We did it!! 2020 was seriously such a tough year, so no matter how much you were able to accomplish this year, I’m proud of you πŸ’— If all you did was survive and try to get through every day, you are wonderful and you are enough. And now, it’s a whole new year!! While I have no expectations for 2021, I do have a lot of hope. Let’s hope that better times are on the horizon, and get through these tough times together. Let’s do this ✨

In 2020, all the days really blurred together, but one thing that helped me get through these blurry days and mark the passage of time was reading + finishing books! And I’m sure a lot of you can agree ☺️ I’m really excited to continue reading books and discovering new, wonderful reads this year, and make these weird, somewhat lonely times more interesting! πŸ“š

In today’s post, I’ll be talking (screaming) about eight books that I really, really want to read in 2021!! Some of these books have been on my TBR since forever, and I’ve seen so many people scream about how much joy the book gave them, or how it destroyed them. Either way, I’m here for it πŸ‘€πŸ˜Œ And other books in this list are ones that I bought quite a whileee ago, but still haven’t gotten around to reading. So I am simply determined to read them this year. Yes, this is the year, folks. I can feel it. 2021 will be the year I finally stop procrastinating and clear out my physical TBR and read all the books I’ve been meaning to read. Speaking it into existence 😌✨ and yes i’m writing this post so y’all can hopefully hold me accountable to this ahahahahaha…..
